The study focuses on childrens lecture in a bilingual setting: paganal spoken quarrel and national spoken communication in East Java. The study is wide because the goals cover triple major aspects, namely: childrens row proficiency, wording choice, and run-in views. More over, these three aspects have been investigated in three different locations: a big city, a small town, and a village. As children were the subjects of the study, the mental representation to elicit the data was designed in an innovative port such that the childrens interest could be accommodated.

Some of the instruments for language proficiency and language choice were produced in colourful and comic-strip pictures so as to bring the real world to the childrens dimension.
